COFFEE BUTLER AMPHITHEATER AT TRUMAN WATERFRONT REOPENS WITH COMMUNITY SUNSET CONCERT SERIES

Sept 4th, 2020  – Key West, FL – Limited capacity audiences will be welcomed back to the Coffee Butler Amphitheater beginning October 3rd for an eight week series featuring live music, local artisans, food vendors and a beautiful Key West sunset.

The opening night of the series will feature a performance by the amphitheater’s namesake, Lofton “Coffee” Butler supported by a full band led by Larry Baeder. The 90 minute set will include special guests Cliff Sawyer, Mina Lopez, and Clayton Lopez, among others. This will be the first performance for the 92 year old Key West icon on the dedicated stage. Kristen McNamara, a local favorite and former American Idol contestant, will perform an hour set at the start of the evening.

The series will continue every Saturday from 5:00 to 9:00pm through November 28th with performances by Coconut Victrola, The Happy Dog, Andy Westcott Band, The Raw Dawggs, Shastina Chiles, Nick Norman & Caffeine Carl, Rolando Rojas & the All Star Band and more.

Unlike traditional concerts at the amphitheater, there will be no seating in front of the stage and guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to spread out on the lawn. “We want live music to be a driving force of this series, but we are working on creating an atmosphere where regardless of who is on stage, locals are excited to be able to get out of their house, see some friends, do some shopping, eat and drink and feel safe and comfortable doing it while listening to some great music,” says Kelly Norman of Rams Head.

The amphitheater is just one of the sought after outdoor destinations in Key West that are viable options for hosting safe, socially distanced event. Venue management is taking extra steps to ensure the best and safest practices are being met when reopening. Ticket purchasing through the website (thekeywestamp.com) will provide contactless entry and vendors are being asked to minimize cash handling. Sanitation stations will be provided throughout the venue and socially distanced circles will be marked to assist with group chair and blanket placement.  Masks are required when moving about the venue and not eating or drinking.

Ticket prices are being offered at a minimum to drive community morale and provide an event many can enjoy. Discounted series and family passes are available. Free parking is also being offered although bike riding and ride-share is always encouraged.
