City Participates in Countywide Drill
Emergency managers and responders gathered this week at the Monroe County emergency operations center for a full response drill. The dry run ensures that communication and coordination run smoothly in the event of a real hurricane.
The group worked with a complete scenario of an approaching storm as well as the response to the aftermath.
Key West participants included Fire Chief Alan Averette, Interim Emergency Manager Capt. Gregory Barroso, Transit Direct Rod Delostrinos, Police Lt. Joe Tripp, and Fire Lt. Karl Wagner.
“These drills ensure that we all work together under the federal incident command system,” said Capt. Barroso, “so we can serve the community in the best way possible if a storm hits.”
