City of Key West Issues Directive for Certain Persona Service Providers

The City of Key West has issued Directive 2020-09, which follows Governor Ron DeSantis’s executive order allowing the holders of certain state-issued barber or cosmetology licenses to begin to provide services beginning Monday, May 11th. Those licenses are:  barbers, restricted barbers, cosmetologists nail specialists, facial specialist, full specialist, hair braider, hair wrapper. Body wrapper.

The directive spells out important safety measures including the stipulation for appointment only; no walk ins allowed. There must be a minimum of 15 minutes allocated between the end of one appointment and the beginning of the next to allow for proper disinfecting. It also addresses the spacing of persons and station of six feet except when staff is servicing a client.

All people are required to wear face coverings, including clients, unless such a face covering unreasonably interferes with the providing of a specific service. All licensed providers are required to wear disposable gloves and change gloves between each client to the greatest extent possible.
