CFK offers virtual financial aid workshop

KEY WEST, FL, July 2, 2020—The College of the Florida Keys (CFK) will host a virtual financial aid workshop on Thursday, July 16 at 5:30 p.m. to help future and returning students and their families seek federal financial assistance for their college education. CFK Financial Aid staff will provide guidance through the process of completing the 2020-21 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Completion of the FAFSA is the first step toward accessing opportunities available to eligible students such as grants, loans, scholarships, and work-study programs.

CFK will provide an overview of the application process with specific tips for making the overall process easier and less intimidating before logging into the online application. Prior to the event, students and parents of dependent students are encouraged to create their Federal Student Aid ID online at https://fsaid.ed.gov/. Participants should also have their 2018 tax returns on-hand to reference during the workshop.

“A lot of students and parents are afraid of the process and so avoid it altogether. We want to help people get past that and access the many opportunities available to help them afford their college dreams,” said Jeff Smith, CFK Financial Aid Director.

Visit the College’s website at www.fkcc.edu/fafsa-workshop for information to log into the virtual financial aid workshop. Contact the CFK Office of Financial Aid at 305-809-3523 or [email protected] for additional information.
