CFK offers free Rapid Credential programs

KEY WEST, FL, November 6, 2020—The College of the Florida Keys (CFK) is offering four Rapid Credential programs at no cost to students starting in the spring semester, which begins January 8. The opportunities are part of a state-wide initiative to help individuals, particularly those negatively impacted by the pandemic, quickly train for a career. The programs are funded by the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Fund under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act Fund. 

Costs covered in CFK’s Rapid Credential programs include tuition, course fees, textbooks, and testing costs. There are no financial need requirements for students; however, they must complete the prescribed courses in the set timeframe. Program lengths range from one semester to one-and-a-half semesters. Some coursework will be online and some in person, depending on the program. All classes and activities on campus follow CDC guidelines and local safety ordinances.  

Rapid Credential Programs starting Spring 2021: 

  • Entrepreneurship (12 credits)- Classes online or online and Key West Campus 
  • Professional Dive Instructor (15 credits)- Key West Campus 
  • Yamaha Portable Outboard Maintenance Technician Certificate- Key West Campus 
  • Emergency Medical Technician (12 credits)- Key West Campus or Key Largo
Prospective students can learn more at the Rapid Credential Virtual Information Session on Thursday, November 19 at 5:30 p.m. Attendees will receive a code to waive the $30 College application fee.
