CALVIN ALLEN AND CHRISTINE DIAZ RECOGNIZED FOR 35+ YEARS OF SERVICE TO MONROE COUNTY

MONROE COUNTY, FL – Monroe County recognized two employees at Wednesday’s virtual Board of County Commissioner’s meeting. Calvin Allen, Monroe County’s ADA Coordinator, was recognized for his 35 years of service to Monroe County. Allen is retiring from the County at the end of September. He began in 1984 as an assistant to the county attorney before transferring to the employee services department. “I have enjoyed working with everyone over the years,” said Allen. “The years flew by very fast.”

Equally as impressive, Christine Diaz, executive administrator of the Employee Services Department, was recognized for her 40 years of service to Monroe County. Diaz is the longest-serving Monroe County employee starting in 1980 as a secretary to the director of the now-defunct civil defense department, moving to emergency management as the radiological coordinator and then in 1990 to the employee services department, where she has remained. “I have enjoyed working for the county and I couldn’t have picked a better place to work,” said Diaz. “I hope to make it another 40 more.”

“The career of every County employee, at some point, has been enhanced by Calvin and Christine,” said Employee Services Director Bryan Cook. “They have dedicated their careers to public service and their tenure stands as an inspiring example to others.”
