Butterflies and Birds with Harty and Whiteside at Feb 7 Florida Keys Audubon

The Florida Keys Audubon Society will hold the February edition of its monthly speaker series on Wednesday, February 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Key West Garden Club, 1100 Atlantic Boulevard.
The speakers will be Beryn Harty and Dr. Mark Whiteside who will give a presentation called “Flutterers and Fly-Bys: A Virtual Walk.” Harty will surprise Whiteside with mixed images of birds and butterflies; Whiteside will identify the species, talk abut their habits, where they can be seen, and other aspects of their life histories.
Whiteside, a life-long birdwatcher, is president of the FKAS. He is also Medical Director of the Florida Department of Health for Monroe County. Harty is broad-based naturalist, nature walk leader, and nature photographer. She is also a realtor.
“I’ve been a birder since I was about 7 years old – someone gave me a Golden Guide to birds, and it caught my imagination. I’m a public health doctor – birding and butterflying are my avocation, not my vocation, and I like it like that,” said Whiteside.
“I fell in love with birds after seeing a Blue-Footed Booby special when about eight years old. Last year I had a chance to see them live in the Galapagos, which was a dream fulfilled!” said Harty.
Admissions is free and open to anyone who is interested.
