Axford stated,  “Brian brings a range of experience and expertise to the principal ship that will be highly appreciated at HOB. I am really pleased that he has decided to join us in the Monroe County School District.”

Desilets began his professional career in education operating a program that worked with high school dropouts, assisting them in earning their GED and attaining employment. This led to a 10-year teaching career as a middle/high school social studies teacher and athletic coach.  He credits his ability to connect with students as a major contribution to his success in the classroom and on the playing field. His passion for education continued as he moved into administrative roles including four as a principal and eight as an assistant principal, with one of the assistant principal positions also including athletic director responsibilities.  He brings experience implementing programs that promote student engagement, positive school culture and academic success to his new role.

“My focus has always been on what is best for students,” said Desilets. “My expectations for student success have motivated staff and led to sustainable change in schools I have led.  I am looking forward to bringing my experience, hard work ethic, and dedication to students to the Horace O’Bryant School.”

He earned a Bachelor of Arts-History degree from Keene State College and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern Maine.  During his career, he decided to learn more about the business aspect of schools and successfully completed his Masters of Business Administration and his Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership from Plymouth State College.  He is currently on track to complete his Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership from Plymouth State College in 2023.
