So the U.S. would rather suffer a humiliating defeat by Iran, their getting everything they asked for and our getting nothing we demanded.  The only benefit to quitting is the Red delusion that this gives them a chance in the mid-terms, which they are sure to lose, even if they paid a grand a vote.

What I still find baffling, really disgusting, is the absolute lack of interest in using a new war technology to kill Iran’s nukes. My AI tells me the chicken military reason for not using bots to dig the stuff up is that the hexafluoride might go off.

Ah, give me a break.  But okay, utterly safe would be to continue what Iran has already started: bury it all under a thousand feet of collapsed rock.  Again with utter safety, and keeping the bots there to monitor outside of the useless IAEA observers.  Make Iran start from scratch, and send our increasingly experienced bots to wherever they try to get anything going again.

Machine guns were used immediately by Europe in their colonial exterminations, and all over WW1 once their first use showed how devastating they were.  Tanks were employed immediately after they were invented in WW1  Our nukes went farm to table in WW2.  Drone planes largely replaced human jet pilots as soon as they were invented.

Once we could build an interstate highway system, and now we can’t even repair it. Sixty years after we landed on the moon with computer technology that now fits in a watch, we are slowly trying to figure out how to do it again, spectacular explosions highlighting our progress.

Like my own 77-year-old body, America seems to be declining with age.
