Boating Partners Assuming Command

Be prepared! This seminar provides an introduction to boating for passengers who need basic information in order to take over or assist in command of a boat in an emergency where the captain may be unavailable. It is designed to provide essential information one may require in the safe operation of a recreational boat. Included in the seminar are actions in response to emergencies. This seminar includes supportive material and a Knot Board to practice tying a couple of basic knots.

The seminar is free and is held at the Key West Sail and Power Squadron building on 5205 College Road on Stock Island, Saturday, May 28th at 10:00 am.

In a special seminar on May 28th, Chip Kasper, Senior Forecaster-Marine Program Meteorologist NOAA/National Weather Service will present a seminar on Hurricanes and Boating. This is an important seminar in light of the upcoming hurricane season.

For the remainder of the year, Seminars will be presented on the 3rd Saturday of each month except for July and December. Subjects such as Boat Handling Under Power, Rules of the Road and using your GPS will be covered.
