Boating on Rivers, Locks and Lakes Seminar

Many visitors to our Island have had experience of boating on inland systems, but may not be familiar with the rules and procedures of boating on those waters. This seminar deals with such varied topics as special navigation rules for rivers, the Western Rivers System of buoys and marks, river currents, “reading” a river, jetties and wing dams, the intricacies of locking through, and communicating with lock masters and bridge tenders. Learn about your local waters from experienced inland boaters.

The two-hour seminar is free and is held at the Key West Sail and Power Squadron building on 5205 College Road on Stock Island, Saturday, June 11th at 10:00 am.

This seminar is the first in our summer/fall series. Other seminars to follow are: “Boat Handling Under Power” basic and advanced held in August and September, “Rules of the Road” in October and “Using GPS” in November. All seminars are held on the 3rd Saturday of the month.
