Boat fire reported off Stock Island

There were no reported injuries when a sailboat caught fire early Wednesday morning in Boca Chica Channel.

The 1:20 a.m. fire reportedly involved a 1972, 41-foot, Morgan sailboat.

The vessel owner was pulled from the water by another nearby vessel owner.

He reportedly suffered minor burns while attempting to put the fire out, but declined medical treatment.

The owner stated a generator caught fire and ignited a nearby gas container.

A Key West Fire Department boat responded and extinguished the fire.
