Arts Patron Anne McKee Presented with Golden Mango Award

The Studios of Key West Recognizes Lifelong Arts Supporter

Anne McKee is this year’s recipient of The Studios of Key West Golden Mango Award. The presentation was made Sunday, January 29, at The Studios’ annual Patron Brunch.

The award goes to persons who foster aesthetic, social, intellectual, and monetary contributions to our island arts community and its reputation as a center for the arts.

Anne McKee has been a leader in charitable activities benefiting the local arts for over forty years. She states that her main concern is the individual artist. In the mid-1990s, with this target in mind, Anne founded the Anne McKee Artists Fund. Anne and the Fund are still going strong, having raised over a quarter million dollars to give in grants to support local artists. This year’s auction includes 54 Fine Art items that are now on preview at The Studios of Key West. The Anne McKee Fund Fine Arts Auction will take place at The Studios on Friday, February 10 with Tom Luna as auctioneer.

The Golden Mango award itself is sculpted by contemporary and strikingly unique artist Helen Harrison. The Studios has awarded an individual or couple a Golden Mango for the past three years. The first year it was awarded to Judith and Stanley Zabar, and last year it was awarded to Bill and Ann Lorraine.
