Annual New Year’s Eve Key West Dachshund walk on Saturday

Knights in shining armor Oliver Barnes and Ranger the Dachshund and fairy princesses Elisabeth Rockteschel and Reilly the Dachshund, all of Key West, marched among a throng of hundreds of canines and human companions parading through downtown streets lined with adoring fans during the annual New Year’s Eve Key West Dachshund walk on Saturday. The pawed processional launched from the corner of Whitehead and Fleming Streets before undertaking a three-block journey down Fleming to Duval Street to Appelrouth Lane and back to Whitehead Street. The parade is one of the final events of the island-wide Key West Holiday Fest, which runs through the month of December and is presented in part by the Lodging Association of the Florida Keys & Key West and the Monroe Country Tourist Development Council.
