All Voting is Local Launches Campaign to Promote Campus Early Voting

TALLAHASSEE–After helping to secure early voting locations on college campuses throughout Florida, All Voting is Local today launched a multimedia ad campaign to encourage students to vote early at their new campus polling places.

Since a federal court struck down Florida’s ban on early voting at public colleges in July, officials in counties statewide wisely cleared the way for college students to vote early on some of their campuses. But with the addition of early vote locations as recent as last month, students may not be aware of the option.

“Voting early is easy, efficient and a gives voters the guarantee that their voices will be heard, well before Election Day,” said Dan Horton. “Florida college students are fired up and they want to vote, but they may not be aware that their campus has an early voting location or that there is one nearby. We’re working with students directly to provide the information they need to have their voices heard. Early voting on campus ensures that every voter has access to the ballot, regardless of where they live, work or go to class.”

The multimedia campaign, “I Don’t Just Vote, I Vote Early,” targets student voters on 10 campuses statewide. The campaign includes billboards, digital ads on social media platforms and digital audio ads on music streaming services. The core message of the campaign is based around a variety of “I Voted Early” stickers to be handed out on campuses as well as digital stickers voters can post to Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat to encourage other students to vote early. Students are also directed to the website www.EarlyCollegeVote.com to learn about early voting times and locations on their campus.

The campaign is a central to All Voting is Local’s work with university students that began this summer, urging county officials statewide for the addition of early voting locations on college campuses and other ways to improve access to the ballot for students.

“We’re thrilled that after all our efforts, early voting on campus is now a reality,” said Nastassia Janvier, a student representative for All Voting is Local and a student advocate at Florida State University, where Leon County officials announced in August an early voting site. “The convenience is huge for students. It means we’ll be able to beat long lines, potential weather problems and campus traffic. I value the opportunity to have a voice in our democracy– and I’m not alone. Voter registration and turnout are up among young voters like me. We’re active, we’re engaged and we want to make a difference on Election Day.”

The campaign focuses on the following 10 colleges and universities:

Florida Atlantic University

Florida A&M University

Florida International University

Florida State University

Miami-Dade College

University of Central Florida

University of Florida

University of North Florida

University of South Florida

University of West Florida
