A Key West man arrested second time for drug trafficking

A Key West man has been arrested for the second time in two weeks for drug trafficking. Stephen Tolar, 39, has been charged with a felony count of cocaine possession, and a felony count of trafficking.

On February 3rd the Key West Police Department Special Investigations Unit Detectives responded to the Casa Marina Resort regarding complaints of drug activity at the hotel. A bag located in one of the rooms contained illegal drugs so hotel security called the police. The bag contained MDMA commonly called Molly, crack cocaine and powder cocaine. During the investigation detectives were able to determine that Stephen Tolar was in possession of the bag prior to their arrival and that the room was rented to him. Tolar was arrested for trafficking Molly and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

The bag contained almost 28 grams of Molly with a street value of over $4,000 as well as cocaine with a street value of $2700.

Tolar was arrested on January 18th after he dropped a bag of narcotics out of his pants during a traffic stop. He bonded out of jail the next day. Tolar was released from prison last March after serving five years for sale and possession of cocaine.
