In Conversation With… Tory Mata and PA Blundell at Jag Gallery
Jag Gallery announces another in its series of gallery talks with current exhibit’s MINIMALISM OBSERVED featured artists Tory Mata and P.A. Blundell on Wednesday, January 25th at 6 pm. which is free and open to the public.
Through intimate gesture and material Mata’s work explores the “subtle nature of awareness and the unifying balance between opposing states of being”. Her choice of elements reflecting symbolic and personal value include clay, bone, rust, wood and bed linens used in the process of making home made paper as in her new ELEGY Series. The artist’s recently completed PASSAGES collection, clay and mixed media on panel, includes an astonishing grid of 56 individual 7 x 5 inch panels.
P. A. Blundell describes himself as a beachcomber and a devotee of nature which is reflected with artistic finesse in his Assemblage composed of objects discovered while scavenging the beaches of the Lower Keys or the streets of Old Town. The evocative titles for these wall mounted works are inspired by Blundell’s love of music, particularly Jazz.
MINIMALISM OBSERVED is on view through February 7th. Mata and Blundell’s work, along with all Jag Gallery artists can be viewed online at www.jaggallery.art.
Jag Gallery is located at the Simonton Street entrance to Duval Square, 1075 Duval Street with ample, free parking.
