Literacy Volunteers of America (LVA) Offices Are Open!

Literacy Volunteers of America  (LVA) is open for business providing one-to-one and small group tutoring at no charge for adults who read and write below fifth grade level or need help communicating in English. LVA believes the ability to read, write and communicate in English is critical to personal freedom.  Share their mission!  LVA offers online tutoring and in-person, socially distanced classes wearing your mask. In-person classes with Suzette Frey are Tuesday 1:00-3:00 PM and Saturday 3:00-5:00 PM for Citizenship, Wednesday 5:00–6:30 PM for Literature, and Thursday 5:30-7:30 PM for Beginning English.  Skype classes with English for Russian speakers tutor Gina Braswell are Monday and Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 PM. ZOOM classes with English for Spanish Speakers tutor Diana Krekel are ongoing for individual students until after summer.  More tutors and students are meeting in-person and online in the Lower,  Middle and Upper Keys. Interested students and prospective volunteers may complete an application online (lva-monroe.org) or in-person at 2405 North Roosevelt Blvd. in the Lions Club building, Key West.
