Keys History & Discovery Center Announces May Virtual Programs

Includes Cocktails with the Curator

Islamorada, FL – Keys History & Discovery Center continues to expand virtual programming. Beginning this Friday, May 1, the Discovery Center hits the historic road for Field Trip Fridays, live on Facebook at 10 a.m. Each Friday, Discovery Center Curator Brad Bertelli visits a different historic site in the Upper Keys and provides a brief history lesson. The Florida Keys Memorial, aka Hurricane Monument, is the first topic.

Field Trip Fridays joins the existing virtual offerings via Facebook while the Discovery Center remains closed due to the pandemic. Other live virtual visits occur on Mondays at 1 p.m., with Mote Marine Laboratory’s Aquarium Biologist Blake Terry, as well as Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m., with Bertelli who features a glimpse of the museum through existing exhibits. These videos are also made available on the YouTube Channel, Florida Keys History & Discovery Center, which houses the Discovery Center’s ever-expanding digital media offerings.

In addition to the scheduled Spring Lecture, two additional live programs are being added, Cocktails with the Curator and Community Views. These events, listed below, require advance registration at keysdiscovery.com/virtualprograms.
