Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement remember the fallen

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was joined by the Key West Police Department and other Florida Keys law enforcement and military personnel in a memorial service Friday at Bayview Park in Key West to honor those who have fallen in the line of duty.

It was hosted by the Sheriff’s Office and the Key West Police Department. The ceremony included a traditional laying of the wreath and 21-gun salute.

Nationally, 135 officers were killed in the line of duty in 2017. In Florida, ten officers were killed. Monroe County did not lose an officer in 2017.
