Man arrested in machete incident

A 22-year-old Marathon man was arrested Wednesday after he threatened another man with a machete.

Jarrod Ke Air Stormy Mitchell was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery.

Middle Keys Deputy Frank Westerband was called to the 300 block of East Ocean Drive in Key Colony Beach about 8:45 a.m. where he found the victim who told him he and Mitchell were having an argument when Mitchell struck him in the mouth. Mitchell then went to the front of a garbage truck, took out a machete and walked toward the victim with it. The victim asked witnesses to call police at that time.

There were no serious injuries reported. The victim did suffer a bruised lip.

Westerband recovered the machete and placed it into evidence.

Mitchell was taken to the Monroe County Detention Center on Stock Island.
