Vibrant, Vivacious Singer Catie Curtis Plays the The Studios

When the New Yorker dubbed Catie Curtis a “folk rock goddess,” her career was officially launched. Curtis’ music has been featured on episodes of Grey’s Anatomy, Dawson’s Creek and several other hit shows, and her brand of evocative songwriting appeals to her legions of dedicated fans, and won her the 2006 International Songwriting Competition. With her instantly recognizable voice, insightful and often humorous lyrics, Curtis has steadily gained a sure footing among her peers. Her career spans 14 albums over 20 years, so she’s more than just a talented songwriter.

Curtis released her latest CD “While We’re Here,” in February 2017. Her charming new album offers spiritual solace even while confronting the failings that inevitably intrude on love and romance. Filled with songs that are sweetly pervasive and softly subdued, the soothing sentiments are entirely infectious throughout. Though she rarely sings with such upbeat emotions, she’s consistently pondering the positive, with the thoughtful and subdued “Don’t Belong In This World” and the light and lilting “You Are Loved” each a reflection of unflagging optimism.

In 2009, Curtis performed at the HRC Equality Ball in celebration of President Barack Obama’s inauguration. Performing with her were music legends Cyndi Lauper, Melissa Etheridge, Rufus Wainwright, and Thelma Houston. In 2010, Curtis was invited to perform at the White House.
