Public Administrators in Monroe County Discuss Broad Range of Topics

MARATHON, FL – Public administrators in Monroe County met Wednesday at the new Marathon City Hall to discuss a broad range of topics important to the running of public institutions and the citizens of the Florida Keys.

“Since we all are in the business of public administration, it’s valuable to get to know each other better and compare notes,” Monroe County Administrator Roman Gastesi said.

The administrators discussed several topics, including the escalating costs of employee health insurance. Gastesi suggested that the different government and educational entities investigate if there would be cost savings by joining forces in a common plan.

Other topics included funding for the Florida Keys Stewardship Act, water issues and the need for better high speed Internet in the Keys.
