Lady Conchs Travel Team Day

Mayor Craig Cates and the entire City Commission proclaimed Tuesday as Key West Lady Conchs 2016 12U Travel Softball Team Day. The awesome athletes won the USSSA South Florida State Championship Tournament in July.

The travel team played nine games in three days and won eight of them.

“These tremendous young women are an example of what can be accomplished with hard work, dedication, teamwork, and good sportsmanship,” read the proclamation.

Throughout the summer season, these young athletes competed in a total of six tournaments throughout the state. They proudly represented Key West while compiling an impressive overall record of 24-7.

A huge congratulations to: Isabella Perez, Scoutt Ryan, Laila Jones, Abigail Marciniak, Ariadna Ruiz, Coral Geide, Yahaira Williams, Marina Goins, Montunique Van Staden, Meisha Hernandez and Emily Bracher. And a special thank you to Head Coach Xavier Perez, Assistant Coaches Juan Ruiz, Dave Marciniak and Michael Hernandez.
