Blood Center Urging Appointments for People Wanting to Donate Blood

(Orlando, Florida June 14, 2016)  In light of the tremendous response by blood donors in the wake of the Orlando mass shootings, OneBlood, the local blood center is urging people who want to donate blood to please make an appointment. People who would like to donate are urged to call 1-888-9-Donate or visit OneBlood.org to make an appointment.

Right now the blood center team is working diligently to test and process the thousands of units of blood that have been donated.

Today (June 14th) is also World Blood Donor Day.  A wonderful way for people to mark this annual celebration of blood donors is to make an appointment to donate in the near future. Having a ready blood supply is vital to our community. OneBlood encourages people to become regular blood donors to ensure a safe and available blood supply 365 days a year.

Generally healthy people age 16 or older who weigh at least 110 pounds can donate blood. To learn more about the importance of blood donation and how donors can target the power of their blood type visit oneblood.org.
