Annette Taddeo Responds to Lowered Federal Student Loan Rates

Despite some in Congress who have made it harder for students and families to get a solid higher education, yesterday’s news that federal student local interest rates are dropping is welcomed news for South Florida. We need to build on this progress by bringing needed reforms to the shady for-profit schools such as the now shattered Dade Medical College that preyed on vulnerable families. – Annette Taddeo

Former Rep. Joe Garcia voted for HR 1911, also known as “Students Pay More Act.” The bill forced college students to pay more interest for loans over time. The bill passed the House with GOP support and the support of four Democrats, including Joe Garcia.

Joe Garcia and Rep. Carlos Curbelo have both received significant contributions from those who benefited from the Miami Dade College scam that left students with no where to turn.
