Police: Teen took fake gun to school so cops would kill him

MARLTON, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a teenager told police he crouched in the schoolyard of a New Jersey elementary school with a fake gun because he wanted police to fatally shoot him.

Police say the 14-year-old Marlton boy had a replica handgun outside the Evesham Township school on Monday, forcing it to go into lockdown.

Two parents saw the teen in the schoolyard and two off-duty state troopers tackled him. Police say he told them on Tuesday he hoped the officers would take the threat seriously and kill him.

Investigators say they don’t think the teen meant to harm any students, teachers or residents.

The teen is charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and related offenses.

His name was not released because he is a juvenile.
