LETTER TO THE EDITOR / ACTIONS SPEAK
Roger C. Kostmayer
What does it mean if an American President and Commander in Chief sends military forces TO our Southern border (where ICE continues to rip children from families and incarcerate them); while betraying our Kurdish allies and helping enemy dictators, Putin of Russia and Assad of Syria, by REMOVING our forces from Syria ?
It means we need a president who, like all his or her predecessors, will do the opposite: Protect America, support our allies and unequivocally hold our adversaries accountable.

Kostmayer you have Trump Derangement Symtom TDS so bad you cannot think straight. Your comments have gone full retard.
It means that the border policy began by Obama is still in force. Tell your Congress to change it.
As for Kurds, Turks are also our allies and they hate the Kurds. Are you willing to start a WWIII to help Kurds? No, I didn’t think so.
Please Mr. Kostmayer learn what is really going on before you post your propaganda and leftist garbage!
You appear to have strong comments… but never write your own thoughts for everyone to read, why?
It strikes me as odd as to why Konk Life’s “Letter’s to the Editor” column is essentially a private soap box for Mr. Kostmayer to air virtually nothing except anti Trump rhetoric and in some people’s views anti American comments. Is it is really a Letter to the Editor Column or a Political Column by Kostmayer in disguise. Konk Life if you found a far Right Conservative version of Kostmayer to spew Right Wing hatred I would feel the same way. Not sure why you let any one single minded overly vocal person determine the Face of your Publication. Frankly it’s boring and when I see a letter from Kostmayer I rarely read past the first sentence, as what he says is very predictable and never has anything new or interesting to say. Other Local type Publications make an effort to share comments on a variety of topics mostly of Local Interest to stir conversation. Konk Life just seems Lazy and is just trying to fill column space and Kostmayer seems to have lots of free time.
I think Guy DeBoer the editor might want other submissions but gets none so he just keeps publishing one sided hateful posts by Kostmayer, the easy route to fill print space, maybe he is hoping that would encourage other writers, but all that does is alienate readers and the opposite happens. Who wants to bother taking the time to write a letter to such a 1 sided Lazy Publication. Good small town Publication’s “Letters to the Editor” columns normally reflect a diversity of views on a variety of topics and often encourage writers to submit Letters on local interest topics. If you don’t get any Letters except from one person you might consider not publishing the column until you get some. Konk Life if you want to give Kostmayer a Political Column to spew his hatred please do that, don’t disguise it in a Letter’s to the Editor format. BTW feel free to publish this as a letter to the Editor but I don’t expect you to as my name is not Kostmayer and I have nothing one sided and hateful to say.
If you care to share your opinions… yuo are invited to write your own LTE. Happy to publish.
I am trying to keep in the “middle of the road” with this letter. The immigration problems are the result of well-intentioned bipartisan congressional legislation which was passed without full consideration of the consequences.
The bipartisan amnesty act in 1986 allowed persons illegally in the US to become residents. There was an incredible incidence of fraudulent applications. Persons continued to enter illegally, expecting future legislation would make them residents.
In 1990 Congress established a procedure which allowed the Attorney General to provide Temporary Protected Status to persons unable to return to their home country because of enumerated circumstances. Hondurans were allowed TPS because of Hurricane Mitch; Haitians were granted TPS because of the earthquake. While TPS was intended to be “temporary”, numerous extensions have been approved.
In 1996 a bipartisan Congress passed IRAIRA which grants persons entering the US to an interview before an asylum officer where the person expresses fear of return to his/her home country. If the asylum officer finds credible fear, the person must be allowed an opportunity to present an asylum application before an Immigration Judge. If the person is already in the US and set up for a deportation hearing, the person almost always wants to file for asylum and must be given a hearing before an Immigration Judge.
The lack of detention facilities has been an ongoing problem for decades. There are insufficient facilities to hold all those who are seeking asylum, whether they apply at the border or they have been found in the US. There are limited facilities to house persons entering with children.
I could write pages on the issues in immigration but will limit myself to what I have written. If there is blame, it is to be shared by many.
I understand Mr. Klipp’s concern and thus limited myself to examining immigration over the past years.
The real reason for the Border Fences and Bars surrounding our detention centers is to make the criminals invading our country feel at home considering 90% of them are cast out convicts from their destitute shitholes!
