2019 BETTER CITIES FOR PETS
Key West has been chosen as the ‘Small City’ recipient of the Better Cities for Pets Grant from the US Conference of Mayors and Mars Pet Care. With this $10,000 grant the city, in partnership with the FKSPCA, will help keep furry companions off the streets and out of shelters by offering pet wellness services for free or at a reduced cost for income-qualified pet owners. The city seeks to ease the financial burden for pet parents in need of routine and preventative care through the clinic of the FKSPCA.
“The 2019 BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™ grant winners are driving real change that we’re proud to support through our program,” said Jam Stewart, Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Mars Pet Care. “The work they’re doing is paving the way for a more pet-friendly future.”
In commemoration of this award, Jubi Arriola-Headley from the US Conference of Mayors in Washington DC and a representative from Mars Pet Care will be coming the Florida Keys SPCA to present Mayor Teri Johnston with the grant award of $10,000 presentation with a giant check for photo opportunities on Friday August 9th at 1pm.
We invite you to attend the presentation alongside our staff, board members and volunteers and celebrate this incredible opportunity to continue to give back to our community’s animals and their welfare. The presentation should last 30 minutes and involve a short speech from all representatives. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me directly.
