Lorenz Speaks About Spoonbills At Key Audubon April 13

The Florida Keys Audubon Society will continue it’s speaker series at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, with Jerry Lorenz, Ph.D. Lorenz is director of Audubon’s Everglades Science Center in Tavernier and will speak about “Roseate Spoonbills in Florida Bay: Pink Canaries in a Coal Mine.”

Lorenz has been studying spoonbills for close to 25 years, and can draw on 80 years worth of data to show what has been causing the decline in their numbers while other wading birds species are increasing. He also demonstrates how the Roseate Spoonbill’s well-being is synonymous with the quality of our own environment and economy.

The meeting takes places at the Key West Garden Clubat 1100 Atlantic Blvd. It is free and open to the public.
