Meet the “Layers” Artists at KEPart Studio-Gallery on February 4 and 13.

“Layers,” a joint showing of individual works by visual artist Deborah Goldman and photographer Carol Tedesco, presented by KEPart Studio-Gallery, 534 Fleming Street in Old Town Key West, opens to the public with a wine and cheese reception, Thursday, February 4, from 6-8:30 p.m. and runs through the 29th, with a pre-Valentine’s Day artist meet & greet, Saturday, February 13 at 10:30 a.m.

The two artists are long-time friends who last exhibited together in 2009 at the Emily Harvey Gallery in New York. The common thread in their works at KEPart Studio-Gallery is that every piece has been created using layers – images collaged and stacked to suggest stories and evoke feelings – Tedesco with photographs and Goldman with painted wooden constructions.

“The works of these two artists really are dissimilar in style and medium, but when viewed together there is such an easily flowing harmony,” said Kevin Peterson, proprietor of KEPart Studio-Gallery. “I’m very excited about the way the artworks interact and how people will respond to that interaction.”

Tedesco is award-winning photographer whose news and documentary images appear in publications world-wide and whose fine art images adorn walls in the US, Latin America and Europe. Selections for the KEPart show are new works that blend multiple layers of images, including dancing figures, fire, water, sand, and in a nod to February’s celebration of love, portions of historic love letters.

Goldman is an acclaimed visual artist and 2011 awardee of the prestigious South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship whose work has appeared in major exhibitions across the U.S. and is currently exhibited at the Hal Bromm Gallery in New York City. Her work showcased in “Layers” will feature a selection of her popular and widely collected cutout and layered wooden constructions.
