GOSSIP IN THE PARLOR? FRINGE’S FIFTH ANNIVERSARY SEASON OPENER ALICE’S PARLOR II.

Fringe Theater’s exciting FIFTH ANNIVERSARY Season opens with stories of love, revenge, and hypocrisy in the lives of early 20th century women. Come to the civil war-era Parlor at St Paul’s Rectory and be a fly on the wall as the Fringe presents four shimmering plays by Alice Gerstenberg called Alice’s Parlor II. Last year the first Alice’s Parlor sold out completely, so this year Fringe is presenting more of Gerstenberg’s timeless tales.

Burgeoning with humor and heart and cast with many local luminaries, the show runs from December 2-5 and 9-12. The program includes The Unseen directed by Stephen Kitsakos starring Rosi Ware, Diane Shelby and Neal Ruchman; Hearts directed by Judy Hadley starring Kitty Clements, Deborah Snelgrove, Donna Stabile, and Jeanne Tindel; Seaweed, directed by Karen Leonard starring Susan Butler, Melody Moore, Sarah Goodwin, and Melissa Hyatt; and Their Husband directed by Alicia Merel, starring Diane May, Joanie Sullivan, Janeen Gracer, and Monique Griffin.  Alicia Merel plays the role of Alice Gerstenberg in the introductory scenes written by Monnie King.

Alice Gerstenberg was a pioneering playwright who played a pivotal role in American theater.  A continuous innovator, Gerstenberg was an original member of the Chicago Little Theater movement.  Most of her one-act plays feature women in leading roles and are intended to be performed in intimate settings – like a parlor.

Reserve your tickets early, last years Alice’s Parlor sold out every performance and seating is limited. December 2-5 and December 9-12 at the Historic Rectory of St Paul’s Church, 401 Duval.   Curtain is at 8. For the first time, tickets can be purchased at the fringe’s website www.fringetheater.org or at www.keystix.com or 305-295-7676 .
