KEY WEST, FL, November 2, 2015—Florida Keys Community College invites all to its fourth annual Community Day on Saturday, November 7, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on the Key West Campus. The free, family-friendly event is a celebration of the many members of the vibrant community that FKCC works with and serves. This year’s theme is “Happy 50th Birthday, FKCC” to share the festivities of the College’s milestone anniversary with the community.

Community Day will feature a full slate of live performances, interactive academic showcases, games and activities, arts and crafts vendors, and free T-shirts. The formal Community Day ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will include the following special activities:

President’s Salute to Veterans
In honor of Veterans’ Day, FKCC President Dr. Jonathan Gueverra will present his traditional salute to veterans, active duty service men and women, and their families. He will specifically focus on two veterans support organizations who have contributed significantly to the College and our community.

Mud-Pi Gallery Opening
FKCC will “cut the ribbon” to officially open the new Mud Pi Gallery. The gallery, located adjacent to the ceramics studio, will showcase student-created art for sale. Proceeds of the sales will be split between the student artists and the Mud-Pi student ceramics club. Two raku-fired vases will be raffled at Community Day. There will also be more than 100 pieces of ceramic art available for purchase.

Birthday Cake
The College will serve birthday cupcakes and lead a chorus of “Happy Birthday” to mark 50 years as the community’s college.

FKCC’s Community Day is supported by major sponsor Waste Management, as well as US1 Radio, WEOW 92.7 FM, The Weekly Newspapers, and Pirate Radio.
