Community Foundation Now Accepting
Nominations for 2016 Unsung Heroes
The Community Foundation of the Florida Keys (CFFK) is now accepting nominations for the 16th annual Unsung Heroes celebration, recognizing the tremendous efforts of volunteers who donate their time and service to our community’s nonprofits. All Monroe County 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofits are invited to nominate their Volunteer of the Year to be honored at the luncheon event on January 29, 2016.
Nominations for the volunteers to be recognized are due to CFFK by December 15. Online nomination forms are available at www.cffk.org.
“The community is greatly enhanced because of the good work our volunteers do for the community,” said Dianna Sutton, President and CEO of CFFK. “More than 1,000 volunteers have been celebrated for their invaluable contributions since the event was started in 2001.”
CFFK sponsors the annual Unsung Heroes event to promote volunteerism throughout the Keys. Honorees, who are presented with a Certificate of Recognition, will be recognized at a luncheon on January 29, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Key West Marriott Beachside. Two complimentary tickets to the luncheon are provided, one for the nominated hero and one for the nonprofit’s representative. Additional tickets are available for $60 per person, space available on a first come, first served basis.
Established in 1996, the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys’ mission is to encourage philanthropy and match donors to community needs. CFFK has granted more than $20 million to the community from its donor advised and unrestricted funds to support the important work of local nonprofit organizations. CFFK currently manages more than 130 funds and endowments for individuals and other nonprofit organizations and causes throughout the Florida Keys.
