ANDREW PRINTER DIGITAL PAINTINGS AT THE LEMONADE STAND GALLERY
The Lemonade Stand Gallery is proud to host the work of a new artist and new medium of painting to Key West, Andrew Printer.
The British, mixed-media artist was born and raised in Hong Kong, but has lived in the USA since the 1990’s.  He has a MFA in Studio Art from the University of California, Irvine.  His photographs and digital paintings are in several private collections , including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and the San Diego Museum of Art.
While living in San Diego last year, Printer applied and was accepted into the Lemonade Stand’s annual Small Works exhibit.  The exhibit and sales of his work sparked the idea of making Key West a more permanent home.  The artist has made the move and now volunteers at the Tropic Cinema and the Florida Keys SPCA.  He also teaches at the Studios of Key West and is a freelance writer for the Key West Weekly.

His solo exhibit at the Lemonade Stand consists of two bodies of work:  “The Daily Unusual” is a set of mixed media digital images, Printer calls ‘digital paintings,’ documenting odd encounters in San Diego.  The second is called, “Duval:  First Impressions.”  This work is a set of ‘digital drawings,’ based on observations made in his first year in Key West.  Each of these series have hidden small pieces of untouched photographs that Printer left in the composition.  “The mixture of the photographers, within his paintings, within his computer generated drawings is something I have never seen and keep drawing me back in for more,” says gallery owner, Letty Nowak.
Andrew’s work is up at the gallery through March 31st.  Gallery hours are 9 am – 6 pm daily.  The public is also invited to his Artist Talk on March 25th from 7-8:30 pm where Printer will be discussing his exhibit and answering questions.  For more information, please email:  [email protected] or call (305) 731-9333
