Governor Reappoints Stoky to FKCC Board of Trustees

Florida Governor Rick Scott reappointed Robert Stoky to the District Board of Trustees of Florida Keys Community College last Wednesday for a term ending on May 31, 2018. Scott first appointed Stoky, of Key Largo, to represent the upper Keys on the College’s governing board in October 2011. He has served as the Chair of the Board since September 2013.

Stoky is the President and Chair of the Board of Florida Keys Restaurant Management, overseeing operations of eight Keys restaurants.  Prior to his tenure as a trustee, he served the College as an adjunct instructor of Emergency Medical Services and as a member of the FKCC Foundation Board of Directors.  He is a member and past president of the Key Largo Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is a committee member of the Monroe County Tourist Development Council Advisory Board.

During Stoky’s tenure on the FKCC Board of Trustees, the College has made significant strides beginning with the selection and inauguration of a new College President Dr. Jonathan Gueverra. The College has undergone the expansion of campus facilities, including a new Marine Technology Building and Writing Center, as well partnerships with organizations such as Mote Marine Laboratory, Pigeon Key, and the San Carlos Institute. Stoky has provided further leadership by working with the FKCC Foundation to develop and support fundraising activities like the Seaside Soiree and the “50 for 50” campaign, an initiative to garner fifty $50,000 pledges in honor of the College’s upcoming fiftieth anniversary.

Stoky holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Communications from the University of Florida, as well as two Masters of Business Administration, in Finance and Management, from the University of Miami.

Stoky joins Michelle Maxwell, Kevin Madok, Anne O’Bannon, Brian Schmitt, and Elena Spottswood on the FKCC Board of Trustees.
