KEYS’ POWER COST ADJUSTMENT CHARGE TO DECREASE IN JANUARY

KEY WEST – Keys Energy Services’ (KEYS) customers will experience a 3.08-percent decrease in their January energy bills, as a result of decreased energy costs, if their usage remains the same as December.

The Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) charge for the month of January will be negative $11.71 per 1,000 kilowatt-hours* (kwh), compared to a negative $7.71 per 1,000 kwh in December. The PCA charge recovers the fluctuating cost of energy and will appear as a credit to customers since it is less than was originally forecast. This will mark the 53rd consecutive month that KEYS has applied a credit to customers as a result of lower than expected power costs.

An average KEYS’ residential customer, consuming 1,000 kwh of electricity during the month of January will see an energy bill for approximately $126.00, in December 2014 this same consumption would have resulted in a bill of $130.00.

“We are pleased to pass along this reduction in energy costs,” said Lynne Tejeda, KEYS’ General Manager & CEO. She added that, “customers can further reduce their energy bill by reducing their consumption through conservation.”

In October KEYS reduced the base rate cost by a half percent as a result of KEYS’ efforts to reduce costs. This additional 3.08-percent reduction is a result of falling natural gas prices that have reduced the cost of purchased power.
