When my grandfather came to America he insisted that they only speak English at home and at work. They asimulated the American ideal. Thanks to them, we are living the American dream.
Sooo.. Come to my country, speak my language, and asimulate to the American way of life. Orr, stay in your own country..
I am flabbergasted by the multitude of flagrant inaccuracies, false representations and straight out make-believe that makes Disney come across as documentarians. As an American and a resident and dual citizen of Sweden, I can attest that Mr. Petrone has only the following ‘factual’ information correct, “Sweden is a Scandinavian country in northern Europe. Its capital and largest city is Stockholm.” The rest in this drivel is manufactured and unfounded nonsense.
I can cite numerous references and sources to refute pretty much all of this. I would welcome Mr. Petrone to bring forward his own sources to demonstrate the journalistic integrity he is sure to want to protect.
A few days ago, an article I wrote regarding Sweden and Muslims appeared in E-Blast. A Ms. Elizabeth Fondelius wrote a very critical email concerning the article. She charged flagrant inaccuracies, false representations, and straight out make believe Disney style. All of which are without basis.
Ms. Fondelius challenged me to set forth the references and sources used in composing the article. I am happy to do so. With one admonition. The following are a small number of the sources relied on. All via Internet research. They are representative, however.Total research involved 10-12 hours.
The article contained several thrusts. One was the Muslim immigration in recent years and its affect on Sweden. Another concerned the abnormal number of rapes which have spiked since the Muslim immigration. Another involved Sweden’s “neutrality” in World War II which upon close inspection proves to be false. Sweden did business (especially in iron ore) and provided use of its railroad lines to Germany.
Certain of the research titles speak for themselves.

I could attack as Ms. Fondelius has and demand in return her references and sources. I am happy to receive them if she is able to provide them. A kindlier way of handling the situation would be in Key West style. A cup of coffee together to discuss our positions. If Ms. Fondelius is so inclined, I suggest she contact KONK Life offices.
Ms. Fondelius claims dual citizenship. The U.S. and Sweden. So what? I have dual citizenship also. My mother was born in Italy. I have never formalized the Italian citizenship. The dual citizenship does not ipso facto make me an Italian expert.
Perhaps Ms. Fondelius has not visited Sweden in the last 5-6 years when other than World War II events, the matters discussed occurred. Perhaps she is merely of Swedish extraction. Whatever, and most respectfully, she does not know what she is talking about.
Thank you for your list of ‘resources’. I will take a look and give you a longer analysis. Until then, I will fill in on my ‘credibility’
I am currently a 20+ year permanent resident of Sweden, living in Stockholm. I am married to a Swede whose father grew up on the same street where we now have our home. My MIL lives a 10 min walk away. I’m fluent in Swedish and I work with cross-cultural communications. You can say that I live the talk.
Unlike you, I don’t require the Internet and blogs from supremacist sites to provide data. My ‘research’ includes 22 years of in-the-field observations, interviews and the ability to READ and UNDERSTAND the official statistics provided by the governmental agencies in Swedish.
So, equally respectfully, I can more compellingly claim that I know what I am talking about, whereas, Mr. Petrone can barely sift through the garbage he’s ‘read about’ in his 10-12 hours. To say he doesn’t know what he’s talking about would be too superficial.
Muslims are not taking over Sweden. Not as if that should be some devastating news anyway, but they’re not.
Sorry to bust H.G Wells inspired dramatic myth, but you do not have to fear the destruction of Sweden.
Sweden is actually doing remarkably well. Significantly better financially than most of Europe and the US, even though Paul Krugman in the NYTimes contends that March’s jaunt into negative inflation could lead Sweden towards a Japanese deflationary economic downturn. The Swedish Central Bank countered rather strongly (though in Swedish if you look for it), so we’ll just have to wait and see if the current strong Swedish economy needs to be concerned about Japanese style deflation in the future.
Until then, I’ll just point out how Sweden consistently for more than a decade (so post that cataclysmic 2004 date) has been in the top 3-10 of pretty much every global ranking for all things including happiness, innovation, education, quality of living, culture…the list is long. (Sweden.se, euractiv.com, global innovation index etc.)
Contrary to the claim, Sweden has never had open borders where everyone is welcome attitude. There have been waves of immigration over the past few hundred years, mostly due to labor needs e.g. the Walloons in the mid 17th century (for their ironworks skills), or for humanitarian reasons e.g. Chileans during the Pinochet regime, Hungarians in 56 or most recently Syrians during the recent craziness there. Immigration to Sweden is only possible for asylum seekers of family ties claims. (check Migrationsverket.se )
And the ‘immigration in droves’ of 2004? Sweden as been regularly taking in immigrants for humanitarian or family tie reasons. The numbers are planned by the government.
Street riots are not become commonplace. There were a few days of unrest last year (Husby riots) which started off with a night or two of rioting because the police killed an elderly man in his home. It made the international media.
Yes, there are mosques in Sweden. As there are churches and temples. It’s a religiously free society. What rationally thinking person would find that a threat to a society? And the only bells that regularly ring from towers are from churches. Though, I do think Fittja might have been given permission to make an audible call to prayers because it’s located outside of a residential area.
As for halal and kosher food on offer, yes, that’s true. There is a variation available. However both strict halal and kosher dietary requirements are not purely considered in Sweden. In Sweden, animals must be stunned and unconscious before being bled. Both Jews and Muslims here accept the variation. No kosher or halal food has been ‘forced’ on shelves. Some wise entrepreneurs will however supply the need when there are people willing to pay for specialized foods. Fair-trade and eco-friendly products are in high demand by Swedish consumers.
As for the rape claims. Sigh. I would link the Swedish statistical authority, but the stats are all in Swedish. Since Sweden does not collect data based on religion, it would be interesting to know how the numbers were calculated that make such fantastic and bogus rape claims. It’s a tiring issue and sad that it’s still out there like a bad internet hoax that Snopes just can’t get people to stop reposting.
How about Norway. How are they handling the problem you mentioned?
