When derogatory or negative remarks are printed, as in “corporate media” then it is libel not “slander.” Libel is written, slander is spoken.
Well done! I can’t blame my two excellent copyeditors, as this is a matter of legal nomenclature. I once drafted a case involving both libel and slander, so I am very aware of the difference. Oops.
