KWPD honors Duponty, Crean as Officer, Civilian of the Year
Key West Police Chief Donie Lee this week honored Officer Frank Duponty as Officer of the Year and Public Information Officer Alyson Crean as Civilian of the Year.
Duponty has been with the department since 1995, as an officer and, like his father, as a detective. During the past decade and a half, he has received numerous letters of commendation and thanks from the community for his dedication and professionalism. In his current role as a homeless outreach officer, he continues to serve the community with sensitivity and professionalism. On a daily basis, he deals with the difficult issues of the down and out with compassion and respect while ensuring that the overall community’s quality of life is preserved. In 2013, O
Officer Duponty again demonstrated his outstanding professionalism in saving the life of a teenage girl. His quick response and actions stopped a violent rampage that left one woman injured and threatened to end the life of the girl. Because of his extraordinary actions in the line of duty, he earned the Distinguished Service Award.
Crean has been with the City since 2008, serving as PIO for the city as well as the KWPD. Crean’s professional and educational background is in journalism. As liaison between the Police Department and the citizens of Key West she manages a variety of situations, some of them quite difficult. Crean consistently handles every challenged with intelligence, professionalism and grace. She is on duty 24 hours a day, every day, and attends hundreds of city events every year.
Both honors are sponsored by Keys Federal Credit Union. In addition to plaques commemorating the honor, Officer Duponty and Crean were presented with checks by Scott Duszynski, the chief financial officer for Keys Federal Credit Union.
