Freewheelin’ Fridays
Last Stand and Commissioner Tony Yaniz are excited to sponsor the kickoff of Freewheelin’ Fridays.
Replacing single passenger vehicles with bicycles each Friday is one positive step towards reducing traffic congestion, reducing vehicle emissions and increasing the fitness of our community. At the January 7th Key West City Commission meeting, Commissioner Yaniz is sponsoring a proclamation in support of Freewheelin’ Fridays to encourage Key West residents to bicycle to work, school and shopping every Friday.
“Our island home is a perfect location for bicyclists. To encourage participation in the ongoing event, Last Stand has sponsored printing Freewheelin’ Fridays T-shirts,” said Tony Yaniz. “Wearing these shirts when you ride your bike on Fridays will let the community know that you’re a part of the solution.”
“January is a great opportunity to get into the habit of riding your bicycle every Friday. With cooler temperatures, little precipitation and longer daylight hours everyone can enjoy adding a little exercise to their Friday routine,” added Last Stand President Naja Girard.
The shirts are sold at Impossible Things Bead Emporium & Studio, 531 Whitehead Street every day between 10 AM and 6 PM. Freewheelin’ Friday shirts feature dry-wick material in high visibility colors and a whimsical logo. Cost is $18 which includes a small donation to support Last Stand.
