Joe Famularo does it again!

Next Tuesday, December 17, local resident and nationally known award winning cookbook author, Joe Famularo, will be signing his latest book at Antonia’s Restaurant 615 Duval St. from noon until 2:00 pm.

His new publication comes on the heels of the cookbook Famularo  published last year. This latest contribution to the culinary world, another award winner, is especially close to his heart, because it includes the cherished memories of his childhood.

Growing up in a second generation immigrant Italian family in New York, he recalls that the kitchen was the crucible of his family’s culture. It was where that he learned deeply felt moments, folding in equal measures of food, culture and passion. Hence the title of his new book, “Perdutamente Crazy for Italian Food, a Memoir of Family Food & Place.” The word perdutamente means crazy as in hopelessly. It can also be translated as passionately, and that sums up a lot of Joe Famularo’s thoughts on food.

The two elements, passion and food are perfectly married in this book, as he looks at raising children with a reverence for cooking in the comfortable joy of his family’s kitchen. Tried and true lovingly prepared recipes pepper the entire book, and always there are the stories surrounding the food that capture the heart.

Famularo has written articles for “Gourmet” magazine, “Saveur”, and several other periodicals, always featuring his wonderful Italian recipes. He has also written ten cookbooks, many of them winners of national culinary awards, like the James Beard award.

But his latest, “Perdutamente…” is truly a book summoned from the well of his culinary culture, a book to be treasured. Come and meet author Joe Famularo at Antonia’s restaurant next Tuesday. His book would make a great Christmas gift.
