Thank you for elucidating the concert for us, Maestro Schroeder. Very glad to have you writing for KONK Life. I didn’t realize the double duty for the Blue Door principals, nor Sebrina’s smoothness on the Schubert. I get to experience wonderful music again when I read your review. Thanks again, Harry.
And yes, chatter in the audience for the late arrival and the lights-out was, “What do we expect–we’re on a rock at the end of the road.”
Good to have your reviews once again. You politely noted the “jagged phrasing” in Barber’s Cello Concert. You were being kind. While Mr. Newman’s performance was impeccable, I found many of Barber’s solo passages strident and jarring; the pizzacato disruptive. And, yes, the Schubert was rousing. Well done, Harry. Welcome back.
