200,000!!! Major Grassroots Milestone Reached by The Joe Garcia Campaign

Joe Garcia for Congress’ grassroots campaign has made 200,000 calls and door-to-door visits

Miami, FL—In addition to the 6,000 doors Joe Garcia has personally knocked in his bid to go back to Congress, the Joe Garcia for Congress grassroots campaign hit a major milestone this weekend, making more than 200,000 phone calls and door-to-door visits.

The campaign’s grassroots team has officially made 153,000 phone calls to people in the community and has knocked on 48,000 doors. The people-powered grassroots campaign has had more than 500 active volunteers who have completed 5,000 volunteer shifts.

“We are a people-powered campaign—our hundreds of volunteers, interns and fellows helped Joe hit this milestone because they believe in the work he has done for South Florida families,” said Amir Avin, Field Director for the Garcia campaign.

During the final day of action before ballots are mailed, more than 40 volunteers hit the streets and picked up phones to emphasize Joe Garcia’s 30 years of service to Florida’s families and his successes on the issues that matter to our community.  Yesterday’s Westchester team was responsible for the 200,000th voter outreach call (pictured below). The campaign celebrated with a Go Joe! cheer and pizza.

In Congress, Garcia delivered for his district. He successfully cut student loan rates for our students, which have since dropped to their lowest point in 10 years. Joe was also an advocate for clean water and the environment, having secured $200 million for Everglades restoration  and an additional $2 million in funding for water quality improvements. He was also successful in securing millions in federal dollars for job training in South Florida and for local transportation projects.

Joe Garcia served South Florida in Congress from 2013 to 2015.  He is currently running for election against Republican Rep. Carlos Curbelo in a Congressional District that has been redrawn and favors Democrats. National and local Democrats have invested heavily in Garcia, with the DCCC placing $5 million in television ads that are currently running in the district.  Joe Garcia is beating Curbelo in the most recent poll.
