World AIDS Day
(Monroe County, Fla) – World AIDS Day is observed each year on December 1, it’s an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection and mourning those who have died of the disease.
The Florida Department of Health in Monroe County (DOH-Monroe) encourages residents and visitors to observe this international day in remembrance of the more than 1500 persons lost to HIV/AIDS in the Florida Keys.

- The theme for the 2022 observance is “Putting Ourselves to the Test: Achieving Equity to End HIV”. (“El tema de este año para WAD se confirma como: Poniéndonos a Prueba: Logrando Equidad para Terminar con el VIH”).
- Know Your HIV Status. Testing is available at the Monroe County DOH and thru our community providers. In-Home Self-Testing Kits are also available. Call (305)293-7500 for an appointment.
