Woman arrested on fraud charges

A 44-year-old Marathon woman was arrested for illegally using a man’s debit card as well as check fraud.

Mary Fayetta Adams Kidwell was charged with grand theft, illegal use of credit cards and passing a counterfeited bank bill or check.

Deputy Anfernee Rodriguez was called to the 300 block of Anglers Drive North on Jan. 15. The victim stated he has been ill and recently moved to the new residence. Due to his illness, he hired Kidwell to help him arrange his belongings in the new residence. The victim stated that he noticed transactions he didn’t make on one of his cards at Walgreens and Publix. He also stated a check was missing from one of his checkbooks. That check was cashed for $400 and signed by Kidwell.

Detective Mario Benedetti was assigned to the case. Security footage at the stores showed Kidwell making purchases and using the victim’s card. It was determined Kidwell illegally obtained $531.34 total from the victim. A warrant was obtained for her arrest.

Kidwell was booked into jail on Monday.
