Woman arrested for stabbing boyfriend
A 33-year-old Marathon woman was arrested early Thursday morning after biting and stabbing her 21-year-old boyfriend during an argument over sex.
Vanessa Benita Nicholson was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
The Sheriff’s Office was called to Fishermen’s Hospital in Marathon about 6:45 a.m. where medical professionals reported a man, later identified as Michael Alexander Lozano Flores of Marathon, had a stab wound on his shoulder and bite marks on his armpit area. Deputies William Daniels and Ian Douthirt as well as Detectives Mario Benedetti and Amanda Coleman all responded or took part in investigating the case.
The victim, identified as Lozano Flores over the course of the investigation, stated that he wanted to have sex with Nicholson, but she declined. A lover’s quarrel ensured that turned violent. Nicholson started hitting Lozano Flores as he tried to leave. At some point, both found themselves outside when Lozano Flores realized he left his keys inside and they were locked outside the of the trailer (located on the 1500 block of the Overseas Highway). Lozano Flores made entry back inside the trailer via a window he broke. Nicholson reportedly made reentry shortly thereafter when she charged Lozano Flores with a 12-inch knife, striking him in the shoulder.
Nicholson story as to what transpired changed several times. Lozano Flores admitted to grabbing Nicholson by the hair and that a mutual battery had occurred, however: Nicholson had minor injuries, which were not indicative of her version of events, but to his. Due to the totality of the circumstances and the severity of his injuries as well as the inconsistency with Nicholson’s story: Nicholson was taken to jail.
The injures to Lozano Flores were not life threatening.
