Woman arrested for drugs
A 33-year-old Marathon, Florida woman was arrested Wednesday for cocaine and other drug-related charges.
Jasmine Janay Laster was charged with possession of approximately four grams of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia such as pipes with cocaine residue, possession of Alprazolam without a prescription, and driving with a suspended license.
Laster was stopped in a Cadillac sedan on U.S. 1 in Marathon at approximately 1:23 a.m. for suspected unlawful window tinting and license plate obstruction. A pill bottle was in plain view. The drugs and other items were found in the subsequent search.

Woman arrested for battery
A 47-year-old Charlestown, Rhode Island woman was arrested for hitting a 66-year-old man in the head with a bear bottle during a domestic dispute. There were no life-threatening injuries reported.
Heather Marie Cruz was charged with battery on a person over 65 years of age and domestic battery.
The Sheriff’s Office was called to the Caribbean Club in Key Largo at approximately 10 p.m. Monday regarding a dispute. The victim was bleeding from the head and holding down Cruz.
The investigation showed Cruz was the aggressor and she was taken to jail.

Marijuana bale found
A bale containing suspected marijuana with a total weight of 14.4 pounds was found by a beachgoer at the end of Boca Chica Road at approximately 10:41 a.m. Monday and turned over to the Sheriff’s Office.
