Woman arrested for child neglect

A Marathon woman was arrested for leaving a six year old child guarding her parking spot at her housing complex while she went to the store.

The incident took place at approximately 10 p.m. on December  7th in the parking lot of the 240 Sombrero Road housing complex in Marathon. According to detectives who investigated the case, 47 year old Elda Solis left the small child sitting on a chair to guard her parking spot while she went to Publix. The Sheriff’s Office received information about the incident the following day. When they confronted Solis, she admitted it was true.

When investigators interviewed the child, the child said it was not the first time Solis had her hold her parking spot. Detectives obtained a warrant for the woman’s arrest. Solis was arrested today on the warrant and was booked into jail.

Florida law prohibits the Sheriff’s Office from releasing any details which might identify the child victim in this case.
