Vote To Help The South Florida Region of The American Red Cross In Their Sound The Alarm Efforts
The South Florida Region is asking the community to help them win a grant for their fire safety campaign.
August 23, 2017 — The American Red Cross South Florida Region is asking for community support as they compete to win a $25,000 grant from State Farm.
The funds would assist the region’s efforts in their Sound the Alarm – Save a Life campaign, aimed at helping at-risk households prepare for fire safety and alertness through smoke detector installations. The Greater Miami and the Keys Chapter of the South Florida Region will host installation and fire safety events in Homestead, Miami Gardens, Hialeah Gardens and Little Havana. Red Cross volunteers and partners will install 1,000 free smoke alarms and provide fire safety education.
That is why the South Florida Region is asking the community to vote online and help protect the residents of South Florida from fire-related deaths.
“It’s a team effort. A simple vote could result in major aid for our Sound the Alarm efforts in South Florida,” said Regional Chief Executive Officer, Joanne Nowlin. “For community members looking to help, here is a simple way of giving back.”
Every day, seven people fall victim to home fires, with children and the elderly disproportionately losing their lives. The most straightforward and effective way of reducing these accidents is through the installation of properly working smoke detectors. If awarded, the grant money would serve the region through the purchasing and installation of these detectors.
